Lowpro Lounge has been a consistent source for cutting edge electronic music and innovative party environments in San Francisco for the past three years. Searching out the "new underground" in electronic-acoustic fusion and providing a venue for these emerging sounds is our mission. The San Francisco Bay Guardian newspaper recently said, "If you're looking for mind-twisting innovation and a grin-inducing vibe, one place where you can consistently kick your feet up is the Lowpro Lounge. For over two years the club night has broken barriers and moved asses in an effort to build a unique and enduring musical community. Combining on-the-fly P.A. production, turntablism, and instrumental improvisation, the Lowpro experience is never predictable and always stimulating."

Now is the time for us to bring that same energy and underground ethic to a full-length album. We accepted 35 tracks from over 20 producers for consideration on this release. We instantly agreed that the only way we could capture the essence of the Lowpro Lounge in an album was to do a continuous play DJ mix, featuring scratching and custom samples. The mixes glide effortlessly, and the tracks combine to show unexpected depth.

We feel that "The Most Hi-Fi" creates a stable foundation for our goal of unifying SF's splintered electronic music community, and fostering innovation and collaborations for the future. Coherent and cutting edge, this album is a thoughtful presentation of today's new genre-defying styles.

"Visionary music leads the way into fresh, untested directions of cultural synthesis. If you want a deep immersion into the latest local artistic underground, dive into the currents of San Francisco's Lowpro Lounge"

Hunter Brown
David Murphy
David Phipps
of Sound Tribe Sector 9 http://sts9.com
The Sound Tribe is a collective of musicians and artists who feel the high mission of any art is, by its illusions, to foreshadow a higher universal reality, TIME IS ART. Sound Tribe Sector 9 affects the entirety of any venue with their innovative use of drum & bass, house and breakbeat ethic in an extraordinarily live stage presentation. The band members include: Hunter Brown (guitar, live p.a.), Jeffree Lerner (percussion), David Murphy (bass, live p.a.), David Phipps (keyboards) and Zach Velmer (drums). Numerous sold-out shows at venues including the Roxy Theater (Atlanta, GA) the Fox Theatre (Boulder, CO), 4 years at the High Sierra Music Festival (Northern California), along with several shows at the Fillmore and the Warfield (San Francisco, CA) confirm the solidity of a maturing Sound Tribe Sector 9.

Dylan Macintosh (of BLVD) http://blvdtrio.com
His band has been described as "an airtight three-piece of guitar, bass, and drums, blazing a fiery trail through the hills and valleys of an evolving improvisational soundscape." Drummer/producer Dylan Macintosh has really come into his own in the production world lately. His tracks convey his skill as a live drummer and are excellent examples of body-rocking instrumental hip-hop.

Ghost (uk) http://musicforheads.com
Ghost is a well known figure on the independent hip-hop scene in the UK. He has built his reputation around remixes and his weekly radio show on London's infamous Itch fm. 2003 saw the debut release "Ghost Stories" on Breakin’ Bread Records as well as production for Kashmere AKA Iguanaman on his 2nd release Raw Styles V2.0. Both have been extremely well received, gaining widespread recognition and airplay on a worldwide scale, from the BBC's 1 xtra to San Francisco's KZSU.

Parc Ranger http://lowproaudio.com
Parc Ranger hails from Cambridge, MA, where he develops experimental hip-hop tracks exclusively for play by Lowpro Lounge residents and for the Lowpro websites. He is quoted as saying: "In the winter I usually go into hibernation mode and make loftier, more aloof, and introspective sounding stuff and in the summer I take six months off."

Twittering Machine http://lowproaudio.com
Twittering Machine is a San Francisco IDM producer, charting the area between experimental hip-hop and the great chaos beyond. He was recently crowned the 2004 SF Laptopbattle Champion, and will be battling for the regional title in September. His subtle melody, galactic rhythms, and drum beats pulse with entropy to create a richly textured soundscape.

Jarvez http://lowproaudio.com
Underground SF artist Jarvez Turnage has added a new dimension to the Lowpro roster. Producing hard jungle and breaks, Jarvez's music sounds a bit nostalgic of the classic dnb years. His style of off-the-wall antics during performances, and maximum destruction on the effects knob always leaves the audience gasping.

DJ Mal http://clubcompression.com
SF local and member of Club Compression Sound System (SF's premier dnb event), Mal has performed with the world’s premiere junglists. He has opened up for the Champion Sound featuring DJ Craze (3-time DMC Champion) and Adam F (Kaos Records, UK) with MC Skibadee (UK's #1 MC).

Genetic + Orama http://www.lifeformproject.com/artists_genetic.html
Genetic + Orama is a collaboration of two producer/DJs from ATL and San Diego. Wielding elements of live performance and high-tech digital trickery, the two explore sound and rhythm infused with melody. Genetic has performed live with acts such as Sound Tribe Sector 9 and can be heard via the lifeformproject.com website.

Sewn http://sewn.com
Sewn's background is obscure, and it is only recently that this producer+live-PA artist emerged back from the shadows with a bagfull of his signature syncopated, IDM style dnb and breaks. Scouted to appear on the http://drumnbass.dj website for international dnb, Sewn is a name you will start hearing in the SF dnb and live-PA scene.

B.Smiley featuring Suga http://www.denniscastro.tv/websites/lns/
Uber-producer and DJ extraordinaire Todd Christianson is well know for co-founding the Late Night Sneaky SF house crew. "This SF troupe of drugged out dancefloor rockstars have been blowing minds on the West Coast for the better part of the past 10 years or so..." He has also produced tracks for U.K. labels Bedrock, Baroque, Distinctive, and Electrofly.

Maredsous http://404404.com/maredsous/
Dan Hai is an SF producer, and founder of SF's original IDM crew Konstrukt. They have hosted such internationally respected acts as Funkstrom, 8 Frozen Modules, and Machine Drum at SF venues like 111 Minna and Club Galia.
